For more than twenty-five years I have offered private sessions as well as facilitated workshops with larger groups. Perhaps one big motivator for me to want to help others is that as a child, I often felt as if I did not receive enough support. But, everyone is different. Some children figure things out on their own and need very little help. Others require guidance and mentorship to effectively do the things they love. However, when we do creative projects, few would argue that it is a blessing to have a cheerleader there for you, to help you get through the rough spots, and let you know you’re doing well just for trying. So many Dreamers never get past the vision stage.
Having a Mentor can be helpful in acquiring new skills to get over hurdles from lack of experience or understanding. The biggest factor is often emotional, because so many insecurities can come up when we step outside of the ‘mainstream box’ of what our parents or society in general might have suggested. If our soul is urging us to move beyond our limited mindset, we really have to be BRAVE to step into the unknown. We must be courageous to take the action (using our masculine power), while at the same time having the inner strength to surrender and trust (using our feminine power), to fully claim our Life Purpose! The biggest theme that I’m passionate about in the Mystery School is the sacred marriage of the yin and yang and finding the “harmony” within and without in our lives.

Regarding the topic of the Conscious Rebel, it takes me back to the early part of my childhood. I found that school was quite controlled in a way that seemed unnatural. The fluorescent lighting was harsh and unwelcoming, while the stiff, uncomfortable chairs were too small for my body. We could only go to the bathroom in between classes. There was a strong element of unkindness all around. The teachers often seemed grumpy and the students were angry a lot. We spent far too much time in school. There wasn’t enough time to be in our bodies, nor to be creative... and not enough to play as children needing to explore and experience life. The classes were very masculine oriented, with hardly any acknowledgment of the feminine, particularly in History classes. The English lessons had little emphasis on creative writing. It was always the bone of contention with my teachers.
Otherwise, I would get in trouble for wearing sexy clothes, saying I was too distracting… telling me how to dress, and how to act! My schedules were figured out for me. The lunch room provided junk-food, which made me feel tired. And when I questioned the teachers on their agenda, I would get into trouble. I was sent to the Principles office a few times, for being too aggressive with my innovative ideas. I could never understand why the DIVINE was not part of the equation. Because of a strong imbalance I witnessed, it made sense that there was so much verbal and physical bullying all around me. I went to thirteen schools, and it was the same in each one!
One thing that greatly puzzled me was when I’d get home, often there would be the 6 o’clock news on TV, and it was like fiction for me. The Announcer seemed so unnatural and concocted. The news seemed unreal and mostly negative, which I didn’t understand. I saw so much beauty all around me, and yet it was hardly reported. I was told that no one wants to know about ‘positive news’. I thought “WHY… this would motivate humans to be better?!”

I did love movies, and so much adored the films that featured the “Hero/Heroine’s Journey”! It seemed there were many people like me who could see the potential for humanity but acted it out through the arts. So this became my first calling, exploring being a rebel via the arts. I spent a lot of time cultivating my love for drawing & painting with visual arts, and also loved performing arts. I took gymnastics, jazz dance, extra-curricular art classes, and singing lessons. It was my place that felt like home. All the world’s problems disappeared when I would sing, color, and move to the rhythm of a good song! I was blessed by going to a special High School for 4-years, where it focused on the arts and technical skills. I took full advantage of it, by being in the theatre program while performing in our annual plays, taking photography, graphic design, commercial art, typing, wood/metal shop, drawing/painting, private vocal lessons, and joining the choir each year. There was almost no dance other than in our musicals. As a result, I started going to nightclubs so I could dance my buns off. I was hooked! I wasn’t sure which form of art I loved the most, as they all were precious to me.
During those growing years, at home I was raised in an Eastern based religion while everyone else around me was in a Western based religion. Both of my parents were spiritual leaders in our community and within the western provinces of Canada. The organization put on local and provincial annual conferences, and I would sing spiritual songs and give lectures on spirituality for children and teenagers at these special events. I watched my parents organize, facilitate and MC these big events, and was proud of them for bringing positive experiences into people's lives. Additionally, my Stepmother who was an Art Teacher and a professional Artist, facilitated a special Arts Program during these conferences. She would generously share her art supplies with the children, and let them create from their soul! My Father was a fantastic speaker at these events, many people told me what a mesmerizing communicator he would be with a full audience! He was so passionate about spirituality and still is! He had a way of sharing his love of Divinity that made everyone in the room feel so good inside. I would often beam for days after hearing one of his talks. Both of my parents were such awesome role models on standing up for what they care about, in a very public way. Meanwhile, my birth-Mother always prayed/meditated privately for me and others… and still does. She is a Spiritual Activist in her own unique way.
When I left home I worked for a while in restaurants and stores so I could take a break from school. I spent quite a lot of time in the bars partying, celebrating the completion of my basic education and leaving home. It was a lot of fun! I finally went to Art College where I found my first group of fellow counterparts. It was one of the best times of my life being around so much active creativity! The school I went to specialized in the ‘visual arts’. Soon enough I was missing singing, dancing and performing, which only was part of the social scene. So my first job after art school, I became a ‘birthday clown’. I really had a ton of energy that needed to be expressed. I painted faces on the weekends, did children’s games, and made balloon animals. After some time of clown performing, I missed singing and dancing. So I delivered balloon bouquets to adult parties and did singing and dancing telegrams. It was a blast!
I had quit my childhood religion when I left home. I didn’t like the fact that it was forbidden for a female to become a leader at the top. I was told that women were too emotional for that role. So being female, I could no longer support that spiritual path and practiced being an Atheist for awhile. For a few years I roamed aimlessly without God, and only had my creativity to give me comfort.
I went through a challenging time for several years. I hung out with people from the dark-side who were very much expressing their animal nature. But their hearts and souls seemed mostly shut down. I was exploring what this meant for me. It was kind of an adventure that lead me into travelling, so I could anonymously express and experience this shadow culture without the ridicule of my family. It became an emptiness for me, sucking the life out of my spirit. As my soul was being depleted, I felt that the only thing left was therapy and I eventually became a therapy addict. I had my feet in both worlds until I was able to fully commit emotionally and spiritually to personal growth. I attended many private sessions, groups, events, read books, and eventually became a hermit where I explored my Dark Night of the Soul that lasted for quite some time! I stood up to my family around important issues, especially my parents. I couldn’t understand why I carried so much pain within me. I cried and raged until all the negative baggage that I had carried was released. Finally, I found peace with my inner and outer world.
Due to neglect, my health was somewhat run down. I became obsessed with alternative health. I studied many programs for years, read books, took classes and workshops and became a practitioner with several modalities. I experimented with diet, food, fasting, cleansing, vitamins/supplements, super-foods, and various belief systems on health. Over time, I regained my health and began to thrive. I learned that depending on where we’re at, there are several perspectives that are unique to each person and their situation and how their body responds to different approaches. I also explored various spiritual health modalities that embodied being responsible for our emotional realm, and how that affects our physical health. Also included is faith healing, energy healing, and developing intuitive psychic pathways as a holistic approach to health.
My second phase of being a ‘Conscious Rebel’ was to explore alternative paths. I wasn't resonating with the mainstream agenda being spewed by the media and culture all around me. Instead, I listened to my body, intuition and heart. It always knows best and I trust that over anyone else’s opinion, even the so called "Experts". Of course I do respect experts too, but only when my body is in alignment with their suggestions. I especially love these holistic like-minded practitioners and healers. They are rebels promoting many natural pathways to health and well-being, such as: sacred plant medicines, herbs, raw foods, and paradigm-shifting modalities that are considered either illegal, immoral, or social unacceptable! Ironically, there is an ‘underground movement’ that I’ve been a part of my whole life because my parents are sort of hippies by nature. They loved being natural and explored various ways to improve health that is kind to the body, avoiding chemicals and poisons that deplete our vitality and make us feel sick. Wellness is part of enjoying our life, and as a conscious rebel it is important to have some personal time to take care of one’s health and be strong.
To summarize my own life transformational experiences, I created programs on women’s empowerment and taught that for years with various women’s centers and groups. Eventually men wanted to be a part of my classes, so I created a program on personal growth for both men and women, and taught that for a few years with the city’s Adult Education community centers.
One day I had a woman in one of my workshops suggest that I should start a ‘Suppressed Info Club’! This was because I had one class that talked about how our outer world is a reflection of the inner world. It discussed how there are 13 Families that run the world, and the deception behind the cultural lies they feed us. This woman's bizarre suggestion really came from nowhere but started me thinking. At the time, I had so much space in my life that I just went for it! I asked her to partner with me, which she did for a few months and then quit. Understandably, it was a lot of work to organize these controversial events in our spare time along with our full-time jobs. My husband was kind enough to continue to partner with me as it was too much work for one person.
So, before YouTube ever existed, we created the ‘Free-Thinkers Club’. Our motto was "to expand beyond our belief systems". This non-mainstream bi-monthly event featured documentaries and the occasional live speaker. They revealed the many lies the system tells us in most areas of life (ie: history, money, health, politics, law, etc.). We also showed many films on incredibly positive innovative solutions to these negative challenges. We would show a film and then afterwards we’d have a group discussion. I would MC and facilitate our talking circle. I made sure there was enough time for meaningful interaction for the atheists and spiritual people as well as the logical and emotional participants to all get along. We shared many insights and processed the disbelief and shock of some of these disturbing discoveries. Many of our members were incredible researchers and writers. We shared books to read, websites to view, and other resources to explore.
It was kind of a ‘conscious rebel source of education’ that my husband and I offered to our community. He would set up the projection equipment at the center to show these films on the big screen. He greeted our members and the public so they felt welcomed into our own little community space. We had an amazing volunteer team that, with their loving help would make these events possible! We enjoyed a support network online as well with a private forum sharing information about local and international organizations that are trying to make our world better. We partnered with local conscious rebel groups that were protesting, marching, writing letters to the government, and educating about alternative law and money. We supported the underground raw milk movement, organic produce, and laws protecting alternative health, and the freedom to do what we want to our bodies (ie: say no to vaccines, and unkind new laws, etc). We had double-agents come on a few occasions, trying to be devil advocates towards our little movement. There was a networking table with flyers for people involved in supporting our communities with like-minded groups and events. We were connected locally and internationally with writers, filmmakers, and people with websites as this was all new having the internet at our disposal, spreading the news of alternative media… and bringing awareness beyond the corporate paradigm of ‘mind control’. We were in contact with a few non-mainstream big name authors/documentary filmmakers spreading the news on a global scale. Our theme was that “We question everything… in the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual realms”. We felt that even if we found the answer, to never get too comfortable with that either, as it could stop us from growing ‘beyond our comfort zone’ into perhaps a more conscious evolution of a new perspective. Eventually, YouTube took over, and people wanted to watch these documentaries in the comfort of their own homes, so we shut it down after 7-years of community service. Over this time, we met many ‘Conscious Rebel’ partners and friends doing amazing work of spreading the good news of a cleaner more wider spectrum of what’s going on with our beloved world, and sharing soul-utions.
As that phase was completed, I decided to train as a Shamanic Priestess, exploring the ‘extreme feminine’ perspective, after having spent so much time over the ‘extreme masculine’ perspective of the Free-Thinkers Club. It was very soul rejuvenating for me, to do these spiritual/emotional healthy retreats with women celebrating the Divine Feminine Goddess! I loved it so much, I apprenticed a program on Sacred Sexual Healing, as it is a big part of a woman’s life force energy and has often been a theme on my life path. After the initial three stage basic courses, it was recommended for me to train more deeply for these retreats if I wanted to offer them one day. So over the next few years I honed my skills as a Shamanic Magdalene High Priestess. During this process I had the pleasure of sharing with other Shamanic Priestesses and supporting each other with our sacred feminine purpose. I could go on and on about this amazing period, but I will keep this section short. You can view some more details of my training on ‘My Bio’ webpage.
In some ways being a Shamanic Priestess has been my biggest accomplishment as a ‘Conscious Rebel’. It’s been over 4000 years since the Priestess archetype has been recognized as a valid role model. Some people have never even heard of this word. It defines the feminine perspective of the Priest archetype from a women’s point-of-view. Apprenticeship has a lot to do with it, as this knowledge is important in creating one’s own unique ‘Mystery School’.
I wish to pass on to you, dear ‘Conscious Rebel’, this summary of my life’s skills, learning, insights to hopefully help you with your own life purpose. We can keep spreading the good news about an alternative perspective to life in this world. Much of what I offer here as a Mentor is my passion for spirituality, sacred sexuality, health, beauty, love, and intuitive action… as a conscious rebel.
One tool that greatly helped me understand this passion I have for being a conscious rebel was Shamanic Astrology. As there are 12 Tribes in Astrology, each path has a unique point of view for all topics (ie: spirituality, sexuality, politics, etc). Being a rebel, one archetype that I resonate with a lot is ‘Aquarius’. It stands for the love of community, for technology, and enlightenment. It’s all about innovation, eccentricity, radical revolutionary, grand experimenter, inventor, cosmic visionary, idealist scientist, universal free spirit, and a god/dess of democracy. To summarize Aquarian philosophy, Aquarians represent community. But they are eccentrics with the widest view, a free electron…one who stands for freedom, sovereignty, independence and free-will! This new Age of Aquarius is the first time in thousands of years that all 12 Tribes are represented as valid. That includes the feminine and masculine counterparts and their shadow and light sides. This is a whole lot to take in at once! There are several tribes that have been underground for a couple of Ages. Now it is their time to leave the Underworld and help humanity find wholeness. Unfortunately, society has forgotten the value of the feminine and some of these hidden parts of our community. That means at first they are often rejected, ridiculed, denied and even punished. It can take MUCH COURAGE to push past all of that, because your soul’s journey is here to bring the light of day back to the ‘sacred feminine’ and aspects of society that have been rejected and denied for far too long. The feminine aspects of ourselves is the ability to feel and trust our emotions, intuition, life force energy and sacred inner beauty that everyone has within.
From an astrological point of view, being in this new Age of Aquarius since 2012, this is not illegal, immoral, wrong, or otherwise. IT’S TIME! Of course we need to respect aspects of the system and to explore our journey with dignity and consciousness. That is why it’s VERY IMPORTANT to honor our heart and soul as a rebel! We need to make agreements and regard the situations all around us while encouraging the exploration of new ideas and ways of living.
A ‘Conscious Rebel’ has an inner calling to fulfill a life purpose in bringing true order back to our world by rising from the hidden parts of ourselves and our secret groups, and sharing our ‘sacred medicine’ with our communities, families and friends.
I want to support artists, healers and activists who are stepping into their power to honor their sacred journey and help our sisters, brothers and future generations to appreciate the many alternative perspectives available to us! If this resonates for you, please contact me to request an online session for ‘Conscious Rebel Mentorship’… and I’ll gladly support your journey.
